The Railyards site, approximately 240 acres, is bordered to the south by the downtown Central Business District.  To the west are Interstate 5 and the Sacramento River. To the north is the Richards Boulevard industrial and office area.  The Old Sacramento Historic Preservation District sits on the southwest border and the Alkali Flat historic residential area lies to the southeast.
